Mission
It is our view that the energy supply in the future will be 100% sustainable. Particularly energy generated from hydrocarbons will slowly be replaced by renewable energy. This will be realized with clever combinations of existing technology. Hybrid Energy Solution aims to play a role in the integration proces of geothermal energy in this durable system.

Strategy
We provide engineering solutions for geothermal projects. The activities include
feasibility studies, reservoir management studies, geothermal license applications and project management.

Geothermal Reservoir Simulation
Hybrid Energy Solutions is able to develop models of geothermic reservoirs in order to calculate the potential of the reservoir in terms of the amount of (hot) water and heat that can be extracted. For our simulations we use the TOUGH2 geothermal reservoir simulator. TOUGH2 is a general-purpose numerical simulation program for modeling multiphase fluid and heat flow through porous and fractured media.

There are two main objectives of the geothermal simulations:

  • To reduce uncertainties associated with finding, characterizing, and evaluating geothermal resources, and
  • To develop and understand the enhancement of current geothermal systems to significantly increase production

The ultimate purpose is to lower the cost of geothermal energy for electrical generation or direct uses (e.g., agricultural and industrial applications, aquaculture, balneology).

Hydraulic Fracturing and Production Study
Futhermore, Hybrid Energy Solutions can carry out modeling and calculations of effectiveness and potential of hydraulic fracturing. To make a geothermal well an economic success very high production rates have to be achieved. In the case of disappointing reservoir properties or a large skin as a result of damage to the well during drilling stimulation with hydraulic fracturing could be necessary to achieve the required production. Hydraulic fracturing is a technique that is used to make wells economically successful by connecting the well and the reservoirs with large fractures and filling these fractures with sand..

We use the Mfrac hydraulic fracture simulator to predict the fracture conductivity and geometry.

Well monitoring
Hybrid Energy Solutions also offers monitoring of geothermic wells in terms of production and lifecycle.
