 9. Cherkasy TeploKommunEnergo

Municipal Enterprise of District Heating Networks Cherkasyteplokomunenergo (MEDHN “CTKE”) of Cherkasy City Council was founded in 1969. The main activity of the enterprise is production, transportation and supply of heat energy. The enterprise provides the population of Cherkasy city (approximately 300 000 inhabitants) with heat.

The enterprise has 34 boiler plants, 84 central heating stations, and 208 km of heating networks. Cherkasyteplokomunenergo employs 978 specialists and supplies heat and hot water to inhabitants of the city safely and continuously. Under the guidance of Mr. Kushnir since 2002 and up to 2010 due to the working results of the municipal enterprises and due to the business-ranking the company was granted with diplomas for getting the leading places. In 2009 National business-ranking has granted Cherkasyteplokomunenergo with a title of the first company among the enterprises of the municipal energetic.

In 2008 the enterprise signed the Loan Agreement with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development in order to implement the Efficient use of energy sources Project in Cherkasy. The Priority Investments Program of the project contains the following components: construction of biofuel boiler plant, reconstruction of boiler plants, pipelines replacement, construction of mini-CHP and ITPs installation, software for network management. On August 23, 2011 the first biofuel boiler plant with the capacity of 2,5 MW was put in operation.

Strategy:

In 2008 “Efficient use of energy sources” project was launched in Cherkasy.This project financing by EBDR. The loan will finance the rehabilitation and modernisation of existing boiler houses, replacement of pipes, introduction of new, compact individual heating sub-stations in residential apartment buildings in the city equipped with meters as well as energy efficiency investments in residential buildings and installation of small co-generation plants. On August 23, 2011 the first bio-boiler room that works on wood chip and wood waste was put in operation.
