| During the third International Renewable Energy & Energy Efficiency Forum-2011 (REF-2011) NUSEP organised a seminar with the title'Dutch technologies for energy efficiency improvement of Ukraine'. The REF is a meeting of professionals, whose activities are connected to the Ukrainian market of alternative energy and energy efficiency.
During the session organised by NUSEP, representatives of NUSEP and Dutch companies delivered the following presentations:
Illya Starikov, NUSEP - Involving Dutch energy efficiency technology in Ukraine
During his speech, Ilya Starikov has told about possible ways to attract Dutch technology into energy efficiency sector of Ukraine. Mr. Starikov stressed that the Netherlands has extensive experience in implementing energy saving projects and gave examples of specific projects implemented in district heating employing renewable sources of energy, waste treatment sector and heating of greenhouse without usage of natural gas.
Svitlana Ivanchuk, Global Carbon Ukraine - JI activity in Ukraine: reality and future
Svitlana Ivanchuk presented an overview of JI projects market and described the dynamics of the costs of emission reduction units. Ms. Ivanchuk addressed the status of post-Kyoto Protocol, gave recommendations for Ukrainian companies that are planning or have already started to develop a joint implementation projects, taking into account the suspension of national procedures for trading quotas.
Hans Hendriks, Serigas International - High-grade bio methane for € 10 ct/m3
During this presentation, the innovative technology for biogas production from any type of organic waste was described. Further, specific business-cases for potential owners of the projects were presented. The presentation had great interest among the listeners, since just a few days prior to the seminar The Parliament of Ukraine adopted a long-awaited law on the applying of "green tariff" to projects related to the production of biogas. A significant increase in the implementation of projects in the field of biogas is expected after the entry into force of this law.
Vadym Polyakovskyy, Philips - Lighting 2025: cutting electricity consumption by 40%:
Vadym Polyakovskyy, representative of Philips, told about existing potential savings on lighting and how it is possible to reduce consumption of energy in buildings and cities due to the use of new energy saving technologies of Philips. In his speech, Mr. Polyakovskyy paid special attention to one of the major aspects of energy savings, such as modern lighting technology. Since, in fact, according to the International Energy Agency, 19% of electricity consumed worldwide is used for lighting.
